Low coercivity magnetic stripe cards are ideal for applications where the card is used for a short time period, such as hotel room keys. Low coercivity stripes can be erased after a brief contact with a magnetic field. Mag stripe cards are designed for use in direct-to-card printers with magnetic stripe encoding capabilities. Low coercivity cards can generally be identified by a brown magnetic stripe; whereas the mag stripe on high coercivity cards is generally black.
